fOSSa Conference 2009

Date: Nov 17, 2009 - Nov 18, 2009

Location: Grenoble, France

Engineering supports the fOSSa (Free/Open Source Software Academia) Conference, co-organised by INRIA and OW2 Europe Local Chapter and taking place in the World Trade Center building in Grenoble, France (Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Grenoble) on 17th and 18th November 2009.

The fOSSa Conference (where Open Source meets Academia) is mainly focused on academia and research centres needs but it's open to industry as well, since in many cases academia needs industrials and vice versa. The conference reviews Open Source fundamentals (Business models, licenses, collaboration, communities, promotion, exploitation, sustainability) and presents innovating Open Source projects as well as communities experiences.

Gabriele Ruffatti (Architectures & Consulting Director, Engineering's Research & Innovation Division) and Stefano Scamuzzo (Engineering's Senior Technical Manager) participate in a panel about OSS & Market needs for Academic projects, on 17th November at 4.15 pm. The OW2 BI Initiative is presented as an example of an OW2 operational Initiative and as a joint effort of academia, researches and industries to develop both technical integration of open source solutions and business synergies, in order to address specific market needs.
SpagoBI and Spago4Q projects are presented during the Workshop session on 18th November, from 11 to 12 am.

Conference participation is free.
