Spagic for Favini - Support System for the Purchase Management

Favini, with more than 500 employees, is leader in paper production offering all kinds of paper for any application.

Spagic has been used in order to realize an automatic system for the management of the purchase orders approval using a BlackBerry mobile device. The purchase orders are handled by a SAP backend application and the introduction of Spagic as integration backbone enables the operators to view and approve the purchase orders at any time and everywhere, using a BlackBerry device. This allows to fulfill the purchase orders approval very quickly and without needing to use a specific management application. The notifications on the approval status of the purchase orders are sent to the users by email, through a specific notification system, and a reminder is provided in case of pending requests.

The use of Spagic allowed to realize the solution as a set of business processes, orchestrating also already existing services and offering to the developed software high flexibility, scalability and extendibility.

The key aspects of this project are:

  • the integration of Spagic with a SAP application by means of a new component managing the integration with the procedures developed in the ABAP code;
  • the integration with the BlackBerry devices via the SMTP and POP3 protocols.
