Case Studies of SpagoBI Successes in Critical Projects to be Presented in Paris

Paris, 31st March, 2009 - During the 10th edition of Solutions Linux in Paris, Engineering will present the adoption of SpagoBI in an open-source business intelligence project for the management of large volumes of data. The presentation will take place on April 1st during the Conference program in session S19 Plates-formes décisionnelles en open source, premiers retours d'expérience. This successful case study will be repeated in the program of the annual conference of the OW2 Consortium - in the session Open Source in Action: OW2 Project Success Stories - as an example of collaboration in the context of the OW2 Business Intelligence Initiative.

SpagoBI has been adopted by Xaltia, a company specializing in value-added services for telephone operators, for the analysis and reporting of services supplied on SMS, WAP and MMS channels by mobile operators.

SpagoBI allows analyzing the data of an Enterprise Datawarehouse fed through an ETL (Extract Transform Load) process, which also takes charge of the normalization of the data, developed with the open source solution Talend. SpagoBI also handles the publication of the information on an analytical portal. These information includes OLAP analysis and reports, designed by crossing data coming from several platforms to improve their level of reliability. The Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are represented on management dashboards enhanced by graphs for summary analysis in addition to a system for managing their historical and comparative analysis. Every day, about 3 million new records are loaded on the Enterprise DWH and kept on the system for several months to allow the processing of history data.

In the context of the OW2 conference - during the session Leading Edge OW2 Projects - another successful case study will be presented regarding Spago4Q, the verticalization of SpagoBI for software quality. Spago4Q is a platform that allows evaluating the maturity and effectiveness of software development processes, the products developed and the services provided, and which can be used to support the governance of a generic process.

Engineering adopted Spago4Q in the context of a project to manage, evolve and maintain the technological infrastructure of the information system of the Directorate-General for Regional Policy (DG Regio-European Commission), the directorate-general that manages the universe of European structural funds from the dispensing through reporting phase. Spago4Q will be used to monitor the various Service Level Agreements for development and technical support services provided through a complex software infrastructure in addition to periodically producing official control reports.

Engineering will be present in the Solutions Linux exhibition space - in the OW2 Village - where demonstrations will be available of its open-source solutions belonging to the SpagoWorld initiative: SpagoBI 2.0, the new version of the free business intelligence platform, Spagic, the integration platform for projects in an SOA/BPM environment, Spago4Q, the verticalization of SpagoBI for software quality and process governance and Spago, a Java Enterprise framework.
