Engineering promotes OSGi technology through Spagic project

Rome, 10th February 2010 – Engineering has become an OSGi Alliance Supporter and promotes the OSGi technology through Spagic project (, which realizes an open source platform supporting the governance of middleware services and the development of SOA/BPM applications through highly modular and configurable Universal Middleware.

The OSGi Alliance (Open Service Gateway initiative - is a non-profit worldwide consortium of technology innovators that advances a proven and mature process to assure interoperability of applications and services based on its component integration platform. The alliance provides specifications, reference implementations, test suites and certifications to foster a valuable cross-industry ecosystem. Member companies collaborate within an egalitarian, equitable and transparent environment and promote the adoption of OSGi technology through business benefits, user experiences and forums.

The adoption of the OSGi component-based platform reduces time-to-market and development costs, enabling the integration of pre-built and pre-tested modules. It reduces maintenance costs and provides aftermarket opportunities, because networks are used to dynamically update or deliver services and applications in this field.

"The OSGi Alliance membership is the natural consequence of Engineering's continuous commitment to sort out the emerging technologies which most meet the integration and interoperability requirements of the market, where Engineering works as a product supplier and an IT service provider." states Antonio Majori, Engineering’s Senior Technical Manager and founder of Spagic project. "Spagic open source platform is based on the OSGi framework Eclipse Equinox in order to realize a new generation of solutions that goes beyond the concept of Enterprise Service Bus. The realization of the Universal Middleware that supports the development of applications allows the assembling of applicative or infrastructural components, aiming to realize a dynamic and flexible IT platform, as an alternative to all-inclusive solutions".
