Gold and Silver Awarded to ObjectWeb Solutions Developed in France and Italy

Grenoble, France – December 14th, 2006 – Two ObjectWeb projects won Gold and Silver in the Company Management category of the international “Free Software Awards” 2006 contest (“Trophées du Libre”). ObjectWeb is a nonprofit consortium of companies and research organizations from around the world who have joined forces to produce next-generation open source middleware.

The Gold Award was assigned to OpenMobileIS (openmobileis.objectweb.org), a Java(tm) framework conceived to integrate mobile application development services, led by the French company Ubikis.

The Silver Award was assigned to SpagoBI (spagobi.objectweb.org), a comprehensive suite for the development of Business Intelligence projects in a integrated enviromnent, led by the Italian company Engineering Ingegneria Informatica. Pentaho, another business intelligence project developed by Pentaho Corporation, USA, was ranked third in the Company Management category.

The Free Software Awards ceremony was held in Soissons, France on Thursday November 30, 2006 after the international jury auditioned 18 finalists projects. Over these last three years, the Awards (www.tropheesdulibre.org) have been the opportunity to evaluate and test cutting-edge international free software projects.

Edition 2006, this year sponsored by MEP Michel ROCARD, was organised by Cetril in partnership with the European Union, the French Government, Région Picardie, Département de l'Aisne, Communauté d'Agglomération du Soissonnais and IBM. It gathered contestants from over 15 countries, 122 free software projects, 34 international experts in a jury chaired by Ubuntu Foundation's Mark SHUTTLEWORTH.
