Software Quality and Open Source: Engineering Group presents Spago4Q at the first Euromed Conference in Sofia

Date: October 18, 2010

Rome, 18th October 2010 – The first edition of the Eastern European and Mediterranean Software Process Improvement (EuroMed SPI) Conference is starting today in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The event is an international meeting point where companies can report and share their experiences in improving software process capabilities.

Engineering Group participates through Gabriele Ruffatti, Engineering Group’s Architectures & Consulting Director, Research & Innovation Division, who is member of the Program Committee, and through Luigi Buglione, Process Improvement & Measurement Specialist, Industry Division, who gives a speech entitled "Towards an Effective Process Improvement Platform: Spago4Q and the QEST nD Model". The presentation, as a result of the joint effort of Engineering Group and the Department of Information Technology of the University of Milan (Italy), shows the integration between Spago4Q, the open source platform to measure, analyze and monitor quality of products, processes and services, and the QEST nD model, a conceptual framework for measuring process performance based on multiple analysis dimensions, conceived by Luigi Buglione and others. Two case studies show how the analysis of the reports provided by the tool allows managers to check the current state of active projects and to easily find out areas that need improvements, this way obtaining an overall performance improvement.

"Our commitment in the development of quality software and in the continuous improvement of software processes – states Gabriele Ruffatti – not only supports our company in its business activities, as proved by Engineering Group’s quality certificates, such as ISO 9001:2008 and CMMi-DEV liv.3, but it also fosters the community growth, providing solid solutions, both in terms of reference models and availability of open source technological platforms."
