Engineering Group presents two new open source projects at the Eclipse Day in Rome

Date: September 07, 2010

The first release of Eclipse eBAM and eBPM projects contributes to the realisation of XaaS (Anything as a Service) platforms.

Rome, 7th September 2010 – The Italian edition of the Eclipse Day, the first international event organized by Eclipse Foundation in collaboration with Engineering Group in Rome, is taking place on 5th October 2010.

The conference, supported by Microsoft, Red Hat, SOPERA, RCP Vision and Talend, focuses on the trends of the enterprise adoption of Eclipse-based solutions.

Testimonials include Deutsche Post DHL and the Veneto Region, which will present their open source software use cases, within a selection of international best practices concerning service-oriented architectures, integration, interoperability and the recent IT industry trends, such as cloud computing and the XaaS model.

In particular, Engineering Group will present two new Eclipse projects, as the project leader, of which the first release is already available:

  • eBAM (extended Business Activity Monitoring www.eclipse.org/ebam), the advanced platform for the monitoring of heterogeneous services and applications and for the historical analysis of data.
  • eBPM (eclipse Business Process Management www.eclipse.org/ebpm), the complete Business Process Management solution, based on the OSGi standards and Eclipse Equinox project.
Through these two projects, Engineering Group contributes to the realization of a complete open source solution, based on the XaaS "Anything-as-a-Service" model, where each level of the IT architecture (communication, software, platform) is considered as a service and the development of new applications is based on the composition and orchestration of distributed components and on the homogeneous definition of tools and governance standards. This solution is based on the OSGi technology, supported by the Eclipse Equinox project and on Engineering Group’s open source projects: Spagic www.spagic.org, for the governance of middleware services and the development of SOA applications, SpagoBI www.spagobi.org, the only complete entirely open source business intelligence suite as well as Spago4Q, the free/open source platform to measure, analyze and monitor the quality of products, processes and services.
