For those facing the "Empty model problem" with PostgreSQL:
I tried to create a metamodel with a simple database and I don't have an empty model with this operations (the second step is very important):
1- In the select connection page, in the New Metamodel wizard, select your connection to your PostegreSQL database
2- This will populate the Catalog combo box, now you must select your catalog so click on it (even if there is only one avaiable option)
3- After this selection, the Schema combo box will be populated with the avaiable schemas (I have selected "public" because my sample db is in this schema)
4- Now click next and you must see your tables to import in the Physical Model (and later in the Business Model).
I'm using the last version of PostgreSQL 9.1 avaiable on the website with the JDBC4 drivers.
Try this steps and tell me if you have problems.

Thank you very much!!!
I tried everything, I can't understand why I didn't try that.
Now, it works :)

Just a note, the previous operations are valid for the same problem (Empty model) with HSQLDB.
For SQL Server 2005 we are trying to do a test in the next days.

Have you selected the correct catalog when you are creating the model? (see the previuos post for PostgreSQL with similar problem)
I've done successfully a test with SQL Server 2005 using the last sqljdbc4 drivers.

Hello,
I got the same problem with Postgresql 9.1, It seems to be due to then JDBC driver.
Because when I try With an ORACLE JDBC, it works fine.
Can you please tell me what is the right version of the JDBC to use ?

Hi, try with postgresql-9.1-901.jdbc4 and check that you have jdk 1.6 installed.
